20 how i told the husband...

so, true story...

i was lamenting the fact that #2 wasn't going to be a huge surprise to anyone...
and i so loved the surprise of #1, that i really wanted SOMEONE to be surprised....

so, chris may or may not have known we were "trying"... {cough...}

in full disclosure, i only surprised him by a few months of what we had discussed,
but it nevertheless made for a fun surprise, and a fun secret to keep for a few months...

{slash a hint frustrating, if you know what i mean. ha!}

i knew within days that i was in fact pregnant.
i could sense it in my gut,
i was feeling the familiar pang of a sore chest,
and actually noted a change in my appetite pretty early.
{or lack thereof}

so, i took a test a day early, cause i was having a hard time with patience.

no point in checking twice, or waiting a day, i was sure.
and i was also sure i couldn't hold this news longer than 6 hours!

so, when cc came home, i admitted that i had no dinner ready
{all in my evil plan for an instant dinner date...}

and that i needed some cute photos for a blog post...

{which is technically true...cause they're here and all.
and i am so glad i caught his face.}

so, i left some books carefully placed on the couch and he
sat right down to read to boss his favorite book, that he had fished out of a large pile...

my heart suddenly raced behind the camera as i realized this could be a shock in a bad way... i had to take deep breaths to avoid letting on my nervous excitement...

and after the whole book, he found something....
and he was a bit confused....

then understood...

then humored....

then surprised...

then emotional...

can't wait to do this all over again.

love you, cc

  2. That is beyond sweet. I knew about #2 before my husband too (when you are screaming at your toddler for NO reason, you might be pregnant . . . ). I wasn't as clever as you though, I just bombarded him with a pregnancy test the second he walked in the door :)

  10. I love that. Having it on camera is so precious. Although I'm glad my husband wasn't on camera when I told him we were having #5 ... that kind of panic and shock shouldn't be captured. :)

  19. That is adorable. I'm totally teary-eyed over here in Tucson. I'll have to remember this one for our next baby. Maybe I can surprise my man, too. :)
